A teenager has been arrested after he allegedly crashed a stolen car into a stationary vehicle in Tullamarine on Wednesday.

Police said officers received reports of four males allegedly stealing from vehicles on Brookfield Boulevard in Craigieburn about 1.40am on Monday, January 19.

According to police, at that time a BMW was allegedly stolen from the same street and observed by police driving erratically on Lygon Street a short time later.

Police lost sight of the vehicle before spotting it driving through a red light at Pearcedale Parade and Dimboola Avenue in Broadmeadows about 3.30am, police said.

According to police, the BMW was seen turning onto Dawson Street at Tullamarine where it allegedly mounted a traffic island, lost control and crashed into an unoccupied parked car.

Police said the alleged driver ran from the vehicle but was arrested nearby.

The 17-year-old Craigieburn boy is currently assisting investigators with their inquiries.
