The Environment Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) has laid six charges against Coolaroo recycling company Phoenix Environmental Group and a director of the company.

EPA said the charges allege that the combustible recycling company had not taken all reasonable steps to protect against risk of harm to human health and the environment from fire, under the Environment Protection Act 1970.

The charges relate to stockpiles of combustible recyclable waste materials at Maffra Street, Coolaroo, which must be stored in a manner that is consistent with the Victorian Waste Management Policy, EPA said.
