Newly arrived migrants will receive a warm welcome this month, with a free exhibition to provide information about more than 100 Whittlesea council services, including waste and recycling, seniors clubs and kindergartens.
Mayor Mary Lalios said the initiative was sparked by the high number of migrants moving to the area.
“We welcome more than 8000 new residents every year and many people don’t realise that we provide over 100 services to the community,’’ she said.
Staff from the council’s maternal and child health, emergency management, indigenous, planning and sustainability, and building departments will be at the expo.
It’s at the council offices, 25 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang, from 10.30am on May 28.
