Broadmeadows detention centre vigil after ‘amazing’ response

A vigil will be held outside the Broadmeadows detention centre on Camp Road next Monday, December 16, starting at 7pm.

Vigil participant Jenell Quinsee told the Weekly she had had an “amazing” response to her Christmas shoebox appeal on Facebook, which asks people to decorate shoeboxes and fill them with small gifts for people detained at Broadmeadows, some of whom have been left in limbo by Australia’s flip-flop refugee policies for almost five years.
