VSDCA: Plenty Valley still unbeaten after first innings win

Plenty Valley remains unbeaten and top of VSDCA north-south first XI after beating Moorabbin on Saturday, although time beat the chase for outright points.

A 125-run first-innings win was enough to keep Plenty Valley (30 points, 1.93 per-cent) top of the division on percentage from Caulfield (30, 1.92).

Defending 207 from the previous weekend, Plenty Valley bowled out Moorabbin in just 36 overs for 82.

Following on, a 66-run opening stand was enough to save Moorabbin from outright defeat in a total of 6-150 by stumps. Adrian Wilson finished with match figures of 5-57.

Plenty Valley plays Balwyn (fifth, 18) in a two-day game starting at AK Line Reserve on Sunday.

At Noble Park, the weather gave Roxburgh Park no chance of reversing its first-innings defeat to chase for outright points.

The Falcons snared an early Noble Park wicket but when the rain came it was curtains for the day’s play.

Noble Park won the first innings by six runs last weekend and was 2-15 in its second dig at the close.
