Fun at their fingertips at Gilson College

Little hands can make great artwork at Gilson College’s new
pre-school program in Mernda.

Among the budding artists ready to make
an impression is Georgia (pictured). The school introduced its “happy
hands” art time for children under five last week and it is already
booked out with plans to introduce a second session.

“It is our
opportunity to meet with residents in a real and engaging way and
provide an important community program to parents and their families,”
school spokeswoman Dianne Cotter says.

 It’s more than just finger
painting – each session has a theme and sensory boxes, singing and
afternoon tea.

“Part of the program also involves exploring and
introducing a different colour each week where children bring along
something from home to ‘show and tell’ which represents that colour,” Cotter says.
