Hume City’s women enjoyed a perfect weekend in Big V Championship basketball, taking two wins to move within touching distance of the top four.
Travelling to play McKinnon on Saturday, the Broncos came away with a comfortable win on the back of 22 points from Lisa Murphy.
Murphy was the dominant player on the court in the 64-57 win, with no other Bronco registering double-figure points.
Nicole Zammit (nine points, eight rebounds) and Kelly Hardeman (five points, 10 rebounds, five assists) were also solid throughout the game.
On Sunday, the Broncos were made to work hard for a win over Keilor, eventually prevailing 80-77.
Some strong shooting from beyond the arc for the Thunder kept the game tight, with Keilor hitting eight three-pointers to the Broncos’ three, but an even performance across the court from Hume City was enough to secure the win.
Murphy (26 points, 12 rebounds) was again a dominant force, and received high-quality support from Vivien Saad (20 points, nine rebounds) and Kelly Hardeman (15 points, 11 rebounds).
Zammit came close to registering a triple-double, picking up 13 points, seven rebounds and 13 assists.
The pair of wins has the Broncos in fourth place on the ladder, just one win behind Ringwood and Sunbury with four games remaining.
They will travel to play Bulleen this Saturday.
