The two teams didn’t take to the park until late on Saturday at Greenvale Recreation Reserve, put it was enough time to get a result.
With a delay at the start of day, Melbourne University declared at its day one score of 2-191.
The Kangaroos suffered a blow before play started with playing coach Kaushal Silva overseas, meaning they only had 10 batsmen.
Silva has been in good form for the Kangaroos, including having made a century earlier this season.
It was a tough day with the bat for the Kangaroos, who lost their first wicket when the score was just three.
The Kangaroos had one partnership of 10 or more as they were bowled out for 50.
Zaheer Hussain top scored with 11. He was the only player to score double figures.
Ahmed put on a show for Melbourne University, as he turned back the clock.
He took 6-9 off 9.3 overs which included five maidens to bowl his side to the win.
The winless Kangaroos remain bottom of the ladder.
This week they travel to Northcote for a two-dayer, played across Saturday and Sunday.
The Kangaroos are also in action on Wednesday night in the third round of the Vic Super Slam.
