Greenvale gallops home for big win

A 12 goal to one second half against Keilor ensured Greenvale’s winning streak continued in Essendon District Football League premier division.

The Jets trailed the Blues by 12 points at half-time, but could have been a lot further in arrears had the Blues kicked straight.

The tables were turned in the second half, the Jets running out easy 16.9 (105)-6.15 (51) winners.

Jacob Thompson, Addam Maric and Tallan Wright kicked three goals each for the Jets.

The Caruso brothers, Nat and Fort, were named best on ground.

The Jets have won five games in a row and and are third on the ladder.

Craigieburn’s best performance of the season wasn’t good enough for victory against West Coburg.

The winless Eagles led at half-time by seven points, but they weren’t able to sustain the tempo in the second half, kicking just two points.

West Coburg found the going a little easier, going on to win 18.15 (123)-7.4 (46).

Jake Piggott was the best for the Eagles in the loss.

In division 1, Westmeadows suffered a disappointing loss to ladder leader Airport West.

The Tigers trailed by 29 points at the main break. They were able to stay with Airport West in the second half, but weren’t able to reduce the margin, Airport West winning 13.17 (95)-10.10 (70). Mitchell Church kicked five goals for the Tigers.

Tullamarine had the bye.

In division 2, Roxburgh Park and Jacana had big wins against Keilor Park and Burnside Heights respectively.

The Magpies easily accounted for the bottom side 21.10 (136)-6.6 (42). John Baker kicked four goals for the Magpies as 13 players hit the scoreboard.

Jack Elliott, who kicked two goals, was named best on ground.

A win was never in doubt for the Jaguars, who defeated the Bears 27.13 (175)-13.11 (89).

Cameron Cloke kicked six goals for the Jaguars and Josh Covelli kicked nine goals for the Bears.

Billy Morrison was named best on ground.
