Finals spots on the line

Finals spots will be on the line in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association’s top two divisions in the final round on Saturday.

While some teams have locked in their spots, others will be watching the scores from around the grounds to know whether they’ve done enough.

in the Barclay Shield, Heidelberg and Riverside will play finals.

Epping (51 points) and Macleod (48 points) currently sit third and fourth, and will play finals if they win in the final round.

Diamond Creek and North Eltham Wanderers both sit three points outside the top four and will need to win and hope results go their way.

Both sides kept themselves in contention for finals with wins on the weekend.

The Wanderers beat Epping.

The Pingers were bowled out for 147, before the Wanderers made 8-148 in reply.

Diamond Creek beat Banyule. Banyule was bowled out for 153, which Diamond Creek chased down with ease, finishing 1-157.

In other results, Lower Eltham beat Rosanna and Heidelberg beat Riverside.

In the Money Shield, Bundoora United and Rosebank have secured top two spots.

Montmorency, Bundoora Park and Lalor Stars will fight it out for the last two spots.

The Stars sit three points outside the top four, with both Montmorency and Bundoora Park equal on points.

Montmorency was the only side of the three fighting for finals spots, that won on Saturday, beating Old Paradians.

Rosebank proved too strong for Lalor Stars, while Mernda upset Bundoora Park.

Bundoora United and Eltham were the other winners, beating Plenty and Bundoora respectively.

The top four is locked up in the Mash Shield, with Laurimar, Hurstbridge, Panton Hill and Mill Park to play finals.
