Melbourne’s weather was again the story of the day in local sport, leaving no cricket competition in the north of the city untouched on Saturday.

After all matches were called off last week due to the heat, this week cricketers had to deal with rain.

Many matches, including Plenty Valley’s Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association north-west match with Williamstown, didn’t even start.

All matches in the north-west competition, including several that went ahead, ended in draws due to the rain.

In the Victorian Turf Cricket Association, several two-day matches started, only to be interrupted by the rain.

In senior division, Greenvale Kangaroos were in trouble against Yarraville Club.

The Clubbers had the Kangaroos 3-25 after 11 overs.

Tullamarine didn’t see any action against Keilor.

In north-west division, Craigieburn had Druids 4-70 after earlier having them at 4-28 after 18 overs.

Pascoe Vale was 2-91 against Westmeadows in north-west A1, while Jacana was 2-65 against East Coburg in north A1.

In the North Metro Cricket Association’s Jika Shield, just 18 overs were bowled in the two-day match between Rivergum and Lalor Warriors.

The Kookas will resume at 0-43.

In the Diamond Valley Cricket Association’s Barclay Shield, all matches got underway but no more than 28 overs were bowled in any game.

Old Paradians were in control against Epping and will resume at 1-94.

Bundoora was 2-34 against Rosanna.

It was a similar situation in the Money Shield, with all teams taking to the park.

Bundoora United has Heidelberg in trouble at 3-38, while Mill Park is 0-23 against Lower Plenty.

Lalor Stars will resume at 2-49 against Banyule.

Only one match got underway in the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association’s George Luscombe Shield.

Just 35.4 overs were bowled, but that was enough for Pascoe Vale Central to bowl Donnybrook out for 96.
