Craigieburn Eagles seek net gains for CanTeen

Craigieburn Eagles aren’t just looking for wins on Saturday in Big V basketball, they are also doing their bit for charity.

The Eagles will wear specially made tops as they support CanTeen, which helps support cancer victims aged between 12 and 24.

CanTeen caters not just for the patient but the whole family as they try to go about their everyday lives.

Club delegate Kathy Bailey said raising money for charities which support cancer sufferers and their families is important for the club.

“We at Craigieburn Basketball Club are very supportive with helping different cancer organisations as many of us have dealt with cancer in some way or another. If we can help others we have done what we believe community is about.

“I believe this is a great cause as I have been a nurse for 39 years and oncology nurse for the past 15.”

The club will have raffles, silent auction, apparel for sale, games and half-time entertainment on Saturday.

All money raised will be donated to CanTeen.

Among the items which will be raffled is a signed AFL jumper from Dion Prestia, whose sister Tahlia plays for the women’s team, a signed basketball from Melbourne United basketball team and a North Melbourne football jumper signed by the leadership group.

Action kicks off at Craigieburn Basketball Stadium at 4pm on Saturday with the youth girls side playing first. The women’s team plays at 6pm and the men’s side at 8pm.
