Australian tennis star Dylan Alcott became the 2022 Victorian Wheelchair Tennis Open quad champion at the Hume Tennis and Community Centre on Wednesday.

Alcott, the number one seed, defeated Netherlands’ Sam Schroder in the final, winning 6-1, 6-4.

The Aussie and his good mate and country man Heath Davidson had already won the quad doubles title at the event.

For Alcott, the wins are the first of many he is hoping to claim in the next couple of weeks. Alcott will retire after the Australian Open, where he is the defending champion.

The women’s singles title has also been decided, with Japan’s top seed Yui Kamijl claiming the title.

Kamijl won 6-1, 6-1 against China’s Zhenzhen Zhu to claim the title.

It was double success for Kamijl who earlier in the week won the doubles title with Yui Kamiji.

Joachim Gerard and Stephane Houdet claimed the men’s doubles title, beating Martin De la Puente and Gustavo Fernandez. The singles title is yet to be decided.

It’s the first time this event has been held at Craigieburn.

The action is far from over though, with the Melbourne Wheelchair Tennis Open starting on Saturday.
