Vehicle located in Epping following shooting

Police believe a vehicle found in Epping is connected to the shooting of a man in Fawkner on Saturday, June 25.

It’s believed the occupants of a Mazda SUV fired shots into a Mercedes station wagon on Box Forest Road just before noon.

The offending car fled, crashing into a fire hydrant and pole on Box Forest Road, near Sydney Road.

The occupants ran from the damaged vehicle and carjacked a nearby Ford Territory wagon before driving off.

The Ford Territory was located in Union Street, Epping about 10pm on Saturday.

The carjacking victims, a female driver and child, were not physically injured during the incident.

The shooting victim, a 30-year-old Preston man, was taken to Fawkner Police Station with gunshot wounds.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Investigators believe the shooting was a targeted attack.
