Yuroke MP Ros Spence has been appointed state prevention of family violence minister following the resignation of a number of ministers.

Ms Spence is currently the multicultural affairs, community sport, and youth minister and will remain in the role.

She is expected to be sworn into the new portfolio on Monday.

“It is an honour to be asked by the Premier to serve as the Minister for Prevention of Family Violence in addition to my existing responsibilities for Multicultural Affairs, Community Sport, and Youth,” Ms Spence said.

“And it is a privilege to follow the work of my predecessors in this portfolio: Gabrielle Williams, Natalie Hutchins, and the late Fiona Richardson – an extraordinary trailblazer.

“Every Victorian should be able to live in a home free from violence. We have made huge progress following the Royal Commission into Family Violence, but there is still so much more to do and I welcome this opportunity.”
