Two teens arrested after stolen car tracked through northern suburbs

Two teenagers, including a 16-year-old Thomastown boy, have been arrested after stolen vehicle attempted to evade police in the northern suburbs.

Officers patrolling the Western Ring Road sighted a Kia Cerato about 12.35am on Wednesday, February 23.

Police said officers attempted to intercept the vehicle which sped away.

The Air Wing followed the vehicle as it travelled through residential streets in Fawkner and Coburg before stop sticks were successfully deployed in Queens Parade.

The Kia continued to be driven on its rims along Sydney Road and Mahoneys Road before the driver lost control and crashed into a tree near the intersection with Edgars Road in Thomastown, police said.

The Thomastown boy and 16-year-old Coburg boy were arrested and taken to hospital for observation.

Police are still searching for a third individual who fled the scene on foot.
