Three men were arrested following an anti-lockdown protest through Roxburgh Park and Broadmeadows on Sunday.
Video footage shows dozens of protesters, mostly males, walking down roads, including Pascoe Vale Road, in Broadmeadows and surrounding areas. They claimed to police they were conducting a peaceful walking protest.
When confronted by police about breaking the chief health officer’s directions, the protesters, who were wearing masks, ran to avoid being arrested.
A 22-year-old Broadmeadows man, an 18-year-old Broadmeadows man and a 17-year-old Craigieburn man were arrested and will be issued infringements for breaching the chief health officer’s directions and traffic-related offences.
Police are continuing to investigate the gathering and will consider issuing penalty notices for anyone else found to be in breach of the directions issued by the chief health officer.
