Tullamarine’s URBNSURF has reopened in time for the school holidays.
The surf park, which is the first of its kind in Australia, closed its doors in March following the introduction of strict coronavirus restrictions.
The park reopened its doors last week, with up to 18 surfers permitted on each side of the lagoon.
URBNSURF founder Andrew Ross said only surfing guests will be allowed to enter the park and additional hygiene and safety measures have been introduced to protect guests and staff.
Surfers will be required to keep at least 1.5 metres apart at all times and the park’s indoor showers and changerooms will remain closed.
All hire surfboards and wetsuits will be cleaned and sanitised between uses.
“We look forward to welcoming our members and guests back to Tullamarine to share perfect waves with their family and friends,” Mr Ross said.
“During our closure we completed our winter maintenance early, so the park is looking incredible, and the lagoon is an idyllic, crystalline blue.”
Mr Ross said work on the fit-out of the park’s Three Blue Ducks restaurant had continued during the closure, with the venue expected to open during winter.
