Another man has been charged in relation to the alleged large-scale trafficking of illegal fireworks via social media yesterday, after a 34-year-old Craigieburn man was charged on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old Brunswick East man was charged and then released pending further inquiries.

“This second charge follows police searches at five properties on Monday 14 February, including two residential addresses in Craigieburn and three business premises in Campbellfield,” a Victoria Police statement said.

Star Weekly reported the Valentine’s Day police seizure of approximately 100 kilograms of commercial fireworks, prohibited weapons, drugs, cash and a motorbike.

The Craigieburn man was charged with a number of offences including possession of explosives and was bailed to face Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on September 2.

Anyone with information about illegal fireworks is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report online at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
