Police are appealing for public assistance following a theft in Somerton earlier this month.

Officers have been told two men attended a factory on Stubb Street on Monday, March 1 in a light coloured ute at about 4.30am.

The men cut a hole in a wire fence, went to a carpark and broke into a parked truck.

The pair removed electrical testing equipment valued at $370,000, put it into their ute before driving away from the scene.

The ute is believed to have decals on both front doors and was carrying a drum in the rear tray.
