Victoria’s largest cat shelter has officially opened in the northern suburbs.
Following a challenging 2020, the Cat Protection Society of Victoria is able to celebrate its new shelter, with the capacity to provide care for up to 300 cats.
The organisation’s chief executive Ian Crook said the team were thrilled to open the new shelter in Greensborough.
“This is an incredible opportunity to help more cats in need and engage with the local community,” he said.
“We can now provide short term care for over 200 more cats in the shelter than in our temporary facility and have also been able to significantly expand our veterinary services.
“It will also allow us to undertake more educational initiatives to assist the community in understanding what is involved in responsible pet care.”
The shelter is equipped with an adoption centre, a new private vet clinic, a community classroom, an outdoor courtyard with cat enclosures, a fully stocked retail store, and a cafe.
Mr Crook said opening a new shelter was “an exciting milestone”.
“Our mission is to find new homes for as many surrendered and stray cats as possible,” he said.
“We invite the community to pop in and visit and cuddle our cats and shop at our retail store.”
