A new kindergarten will be built in Mickleham as part of a state government program to help families in growth areas access crucial early childhood services.
The government has allocated funding to the Merrifield South Integrated Child, Family and Community Centre though its Building Blocks Capacity grants program.
The centre is one of nine in growth areas in receive funding as part of a $14.7 million state government investment.
The government said the grants will improve access to local early childhood services by supporting new kindergartens to be built in some of the state’s fastest-growing areas, and supporting existing services to create extra infrastructure capacity for more kids to enrol in funded kindergarten.
Early Childhood Minister Ingrid Stitt said the government was striving to ensure every family has a great local kindergarten near their home.
“We want every Victorian child to have access to fantastic early years education, close to home – because we know
how vital it is in setting our kids up for the rest of their lives,” she said.
