A new book aims to boost immunisation rates among Aboriginal children in Whittlesea.
Whittlesea council’s immunisation co-ordinator Tanya Perrin penned the book, A Yarn About Germs, using a $25,000 grant from pharmaceutical company Sanofi Pasteur to work with families of Thomastown’s Bubup Wilam Child and Family Centre.
The book tells the story of a young girl who learns about good and bad germs and how vaccines can keep her healthy.
Mayor Stevan Kozmevski said Ms Perrin’s creativity would help families learn about the importance of immunisations.
The book will be available in local childcare centres, kindergartens and maternal and child health centres.
