An aged care facility in Westmeadows has been linked to 12 active COVID-19 cases.
Baptcare Brookview Community in Westmeadows said in a statement on its website that there were 12 active cases linked to its facility as of Sunday.
A second round of testing was conducted at the site on Saturday, and the results showed an increase of positive tests since the first round of testing, which was conducted on Wednesday.
Of the 12 cases, eight are residents, including two residents who are in hospital.
The facility has received most of its results for staff from Saturday’s test, with one additional staff member testing positive. Three results are still to be received.
Staff who have tested positive are isolating at home.
The statement said: “Our primary concern during this time is the wellbeing, health and safety of our residents and staff”.
The Department of Health and Human Services said in its daily information for Sunday that it was currently investigating the cases at Baptcare Brookview.
Overall, there are 193 active cases in Hume, the third-most in the state. Numbers droppedon all but one day in the last week.
There have been 1565 cases in Hume, up 62 in the last week.
In Whittlesea, there are 153 active cases down from 330 on August 20. Overall there have been 1172 cases in Whittlesea, up 50 from last week.
Cases at Epping Gardens Aged Care facility have steadied, with just one case added in the last week.
