A man has been charged over an alleged armed robbery at Westmeadows.

Police were called to the Westmeadows Tavern just after 5am on March 2, following reports two people armed with firearms had confronted a woman.

Police said that shortly after they arrived at the venue, the women ran outside saying she had been held inside.

The woman was not physically harmed.

Armed Crime Squad detectives arrested a 58-year-old man at a private property on Bonds Lane, Westmeadows at noon yesterday.

He has been charged with armed robbery, false imprisonment and aggravated burglary.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court today.
