An Attwood man has been charged following a crash in Attwood on Sunday night that killed two women.
Bozica Nikolic, 57, and her best friend, Subha Deumic, 62, were travelling in a red Toyota hatchback when it was hit by a black Mercedes.
Ms Deumic’s daughter was following in a car behind and witnessed the collision, which sent the Toyota careering across the road.
Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives on Monday charged the 20-year-old driver of the Mercedes with two counts of culpable driving causing death and two counts of dangerous driving causing death.
He was travelling south on Mickleham Road at the time of the collision at the intersection from Alanbrae Terrace about 10pm.
One of the women, the passenger in the Toyota, died at the scene.
The other upon arrival at hospital.
The force of the crash ripped the engine from the Toyota and sent it flying 70 metres from the crash scene.
