Police have arrested a man following an alleged food contamination incident at a Roxburgh Park supermarket yesterday.
Police were called to the Woolworths supermarket on Somerton Road about 4.35pm on Tuesday after receiving reports of a man behaving erratically.
On arrival, police were told that a man had entered the store and allegedly contaminated a number of products by poking them with a syringe.
Customers alerted staff about the man, who spent about five minutes in the store before leaving the scene.
Detectives executed a search warrant at a Craigieburn address this morning and arrested a 33-year-old man.
He was interviewed and will be charged with contaminating goods with the intention to cause or being reckless as to whether it would cause public alarm or economic loss.
The man is expected to face Broadmeadows Magistrates’ Court this afternoon.
