Major road closures to disrupt travel across the north

Drivers in Melbourne’s north are being urged to plan ahead, with a series of road and lane closures set to cause significant delays over the coming months as part of Victoria’s Big Build and North East Link Project.

Public Transport Victoria (PTV) has warned key roads will be impacted, with motorists advised to allow extra time or seek alternative routes.

From September through to late December, Epping Road will face intermittent closures in both directions between Craigieburn Road East and Memorial Avenue. High Street will also be closed northbound between Memorial Avenue and O’Herns-Findon Road during October.

The Craigieburn Road East and Epping Road intersection will shut in sections for up to two weekends in September and October, while major disruptions are also planned for the M80 Ring Road between Plenty Road and the Greensborough Bypass. Several full closures are scheduled, including a complete shutdown in both directions from Friday 19 September to Monday 22 September.

The Greensborough Bypass will also be heavily affected, with overnight closures and a full shutdown between Grimshaw Street and Diamond Creek Road during the same September weekend.

Other impacted routes include Bulleen Road, Grimshaw Street, and Bridge Street, with closures ranging from overnight shutdowns to several weeks at a time.

Commuters are urged to check for updates, plan alternate travel arrangements, and allow for extended travel times during the works.
