Inside story on how crimes are solved

By Laura Michell

Are you curious about how crimes are solved? Or perhaps you have wondered about how evidence is gathered?

The Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation’s northern metro branch is holding its inaugural Inside Story night next month, providing an insight into the investigations of some of Victoria’s most notable crimes.

The event will feature two presentations by lead detectives, giving the audience a chance to see and hear details not covered by the media.

Northern metro branch president Helen Walsh said the audience could see crime scene photos and hear details of interviews conducted by police. They will also have a chance to ask questions of the detectives.

“These nights have proven to be extremely popular with other branches in their local community and we are hoping our local community will get behind this event,” she said.

The event will raise money for a project in the paediatric emergency department at The Northern Hospital in honour of Constable Neil Clinch.

Mr Clinch was killed during the apprehension of an armed offender at Fawkner on April 5, 1987.

Inside Story will be held at the Greensborough RSL on Wednesday, September 12, from 7pm.

Tickets cost $35 and include a light supper.
