Major industry expansions are taking place across the northern suburbs, creating a jobs boom in the region.

Aerospace composites maker Quickstep Holdings, bedding manufacturer John Cotton Australia and dairy producer Picnic Dairy Foods will be expanding operations.

John Cotton Australia will implement a new production line at its Campbellfield facility, with production capacity increasing to 800,000 units each year, creating 30 jobs.

Picnic Dairy Foods is creating 20 new positions as it upscales its Coolaroo facility, increasing production of yoghurt, cheese, drinks and spreads.

Maintenance, repair and overhaul operations at Quickstep Holdings Tullamarine facility will also be increased, adding 67 new jobs.

The development is supported by the state government with a combined investment that will create 580 new jobs among Tullamarine, Campbellfield, Broadmeadows, Thomastown and Preston.

Industry Support and Recovery Minister Ben Carroll said: “Melbourne’s outer north is an integral part of Victoria’s nation-leading advanced manufacturing industry.

“We’ll continue to support our local manufacturers to invest in making globally-competitive products in the region and generating secure jobs for Victorians.”
