The Hume Enviro Champions program is accepting applications until Friday.
The program provides ten weeks of free training, aimed at building capacity within the community to develop, implement and evaluate environmental community projects.
More than 120 community members have completed the training since the program started in 2012 and have participated in more than 60 community-run initiatives that benefit both the community and environment.
Past Champion Mercedes said the program inspired her to improve and appreciate the environment.
“[The program gave me] a deeper understanding of our environment as a whole, especially our local environment,” she said.
“I recommend and challenge anyone to get involved… it is very worthwhile.”
To be eligible to apply, you need to live, work, study or volunteer in Hume.
Anyone interested can apply now online at www.hume.vic.gov.au/Residents/Waste-and-Environment/Environment/Hume-Enviro-Champions.
