Four charged following alleged thefts in northern suburbs

Two Greenvale men, a Greenvale woman and a Thomastown woman have been charged following the alleged theft of 13 Ford motor vehicles in the northern suburbs in just over a month.

Detectives from the Vehicle Crime Squad executed search warrants at a residential property on Dunfermline Avenue, Greenvale, and a business address on Yellowbox Road in Craigieburn on Wednesday, November 10.

Police said during the searches they seized a Jeep Compass, methylamphetamine, a stolen motorised scooter, cloned and stolen registration plates, personal details of over 60 victims of identity theft, a stolen disabled parking permit and other stolen items valued in excess of $12,000.

A 32-year-old Greenvale man was charged with trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence, possessing GHB, handling stolen goods, reckless conduct endangering serious injury and possessing proceeds of crime.

He was remanded in custody and will appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on Monday, November 22.

A 28-year-old Greenvale woman was charged with trafficking and possessing a drug of dependence, possessing identification information, possessing GHB and committing indictable offences whilst on bail.

She was remanded in custody and will appear at Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on January 14, 2022.

An 18-year-old Greenvale man was charged with handling stolen goods and was issued with a child caution notice.

A 26-year-old Thomastown woman was charged with possessing a drug of dependence and possessing identification information.

She was bailed to face Broadmeadows Magistrates Court on Tuesday, December 21.

It follows 13 reported thefts of 1990s model Fords since Friday, October 1, including Ford Falcons, one Laser and one Fairlane.

Police said they will allege the offenders targeted these vehicles for their parts and/or rebirth. The investigation remains ongoing.
