Hours at major COVID-19 vaccination centres, including at La Trobe University, Bundoora, will be extended as the interval for third doses is altered.

The state government announced today that Victorians aged 18 years and over will now be eligible to get their third dose of COVID-19 vaccine after just three months.

To accommodate the extra 1.2 million people that will become eligible, a walk-up vaccination blitz will begin on Friday, January 21.

La Trobe’s walk-up hours will be extended, with the centre open from 8am to 8pm daily from Friday until Monday, January 24.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the move was a “big push” for third dose vaccinations.

“Thousands of appointments are available, walk-in capacity has been expanded, opening hours have been extended, and more vaccinators will be on the floor,” Mr Andrews said.

“If you got your second dose in October or earlier, now’s the time to come along to one of our major state-run centres this weekend and get your third, to protect yourself and the community for the busy year ahead.”

Sixty thousand more appointments for booster vaccinations will be available across several state-run centres, including La Trobe, this weekend.
