Doreen schoolgirl Jael Wena takes third spot at Junior Eurovision

Doreen schoolgirl Jael Wena has sung her way to third place at the Junior Eurovision competition.

Jael, 12, took to the stage in Belarus on Sunday night to perform the song Champion, which was written for her by MSquared Productions.

She won the jury vote and came third in the final score.

It is the second time Australia has finished third in the competition.

Speaking after the verdict, Jael said she was pleased with her performance.

“I am so happy with what I achieved,” she said.

“I am so glad I came first with the jury – that is a big achievement for me – and I’m so happy I came third int he whole thing.

“It is just the best experience.”

The Hazel Glen College student was selected as Australia’s contestant after winning the Fast Track Talent Showcase three years in a row.
