A Doreen early learning centre (ELC) is set to receive over $77,000 to help provide the best start in life for local children.

Yan Yean MP Danielle Green announced last week that Orchard Road Community and Early Learning Centre would receive $77,808 in the latest round of the Building Blocks Grants program improvement stream.

Orchard Road Community and ELC offers an integrated children’s service, and the funding will be used to refurbish and upgrade the centre’s outdoor learning space.

The grants program supports early childhood providers with new and existing infrastructure and facilities for eligible three-and-four-year-old kindergarten services.

Ms Green said: “We’re proud to be improving early childhood services here in Doreen – helping local families access local kinders equipped with better facilities for their children and setting them up for the rest of their lives”.

Forty-nine kinders will share in over $3.5 million to upgrade or improve the amenity of their facilities as well as funding for new IT devices.

Early Childhood Minister Ingrid Stitt said the funding for Orchard Road Community and ELC demonstrated the government’s “unprecedented” investment in early childhood services.
