Craigieburn man arrested as part of shooting investigation

A Craigieburn man has been arrested as part of an investigation into a shooting at a Victoria Police impound yard earlier this week.

Police from Taskforce Echo and the Operations Response Unit executed warrants at two businesses in Technical Drive, Craigieburn, and house in Wallan about 4.30pm on Wednesday in relation to the shooting at the Preston impound yard on Tuesday.

A search of one of the Technical Drive properties uncovered two allegedly stolen vehicles – a 1992 Toyota Land Cruiser and a black Nissan Skyline.

A 41-year-old Wallan man was arrested at the scene in relation to the allegedly stolen cars and has been interviewed by police.

He was released pending further enquiries.

A Craigieburn man, 22, was arrested at a nearby service station and charged with possessing methamphetamine, possessing prescription drugs and handling stolen goods.

Police believe that the Nissan Nivara the man was driving allegedly displayed stolen number plates.

He was bailed by police to face Broadmeadows magistrates court on August 31.

Detectives are continuing their investigation into the shooting and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
