Construction starts on $70 million Kalkallo retail hub

Kalkallo Town Centre's projected look.

A $70 million retail hub is being built in Kalkallo.

The hub is being built by Oreana Property in the Cloverton estate.

The 8000 square metre centre has commenced construction on Cloverton Boulevard at the intersection of Toyon Road.

The town centre will feature a Woolworths supermarket, a childcare centre, petrol station, medical centre, discount pharmacy and more.

Oreana Group managing director and co-founder Tony Sass believes it’ll be imperative for the town’s development.

“Kalkallo Town Centre will be an important civic asset for the community in this major growth area and will encourage people to come together and interact in a tailored, community hub environment,” he said.

Furthermore, the project will create 200 new jobs for Victorians which will continue to help push the state’s unemployment rates down particularly in Melbourne’s north.

“The Kalkallo Town Centre will be a strong contributor to the local economy throughout the construction phase and during its operational lifespan. Jobs will be created during its development and the vast array of retailers and childcare centre offering will continue to drive employment opportunities for many years to come.”

The development site borders Gilgai Plains Primary School and Kalkallo Interim Preschool and will provide an essential complex to locals in nearby Cloverton estate.

The hub is expected to be completed in early 2023.
