The lead-up to Christmas is an expensive time of year for many families, says Katriece Bolden, from welfare agency Whittlesea Community Connections (WCC).
She said agencies are often stretched and cannot meet demand for emergency relief packages. So, each year, WCC calls for donations of non-perishable food and toiletries to cater for the increased demand over the festive period.
“This is often a difficult time for families, and we would love to assist as many people as possible,” Ms Bolden said.
WCC is asking the community to support its Christmas Drive by donating long life milk, rice, cereal, tuna, canned tomatoes, chick peas, canned fruit, tampons, nappies, baby wipes and Christmas foods before December 14.
There are three drop-off locations – at Scullin MP Andrew Giles’ office at The Stables shopping centre, WCC’s office at Shop 111, Pacific Epping, or at Aparet Café in Hazel Glen Drive, Doreen.
