Charges over alleged burglaries

Four men have been charged following more than 30 alleged burglaries across Melbourne’s north-east.

Police recently executed warrants at a number of properties in Roxburgh Park, Meadows Heights and Oak Park and arrested five men as part of Operation Stooked.

The two-month investigation follows a series of alleged commercial cigarette burglaries and residential burglaries in Hume, Whittlesea, Brimbank and Manningham.

Police said that four cars and two firearms were seized during searches of the five properties.

An 18-year-old Roxburgh Park man was charged with more than 70 offences including 12 counts of commercial burglaries and more than 30 residential and aggravated burglaries.

A 19-year-old Meadow Heights man and an 18-year-old Oak Park man were both charged with more than 60 charges including more than 30 residential burglaries, aggravated home invasion and commercial burglaries.

A 20-year-old Roxburgh Park man was charged with two counts of possessing firearms, theft of motor vehicle, two counts of commercial burglaries and three counts of theft of caravans.

All four men were remanded to face Melbourne Magistrates Court.
