St Monica’s College, Epping recently saluted a staff member who celebrated a long service milestone.

Concetta (Connie) Cartelli has served the Monican community for 45 years, commencing with the College in 1979 after arriving from Italy.

Connie has spent her time teaching languages and religious studies and has held a range of senior leadership positions within the College including Faculty Leader and Year Level Leader

Connie suffered incredibly as a result of the Black Saturday fires of 2009 which threatened her life and accommodation and beloved animal companions and her Flowerdale community.

She held deep, dark memories of fiery scenes we who were not there will never imagine. Her recovery from that dark period is testament to her faith and personal strength.

St Monica’s College principal Brian Hanley, said Connie is theheart and soul of the College community.

“Connie has left an impression on thousands of students and staff over these years with her outstanding commitment to teaching and her commitment to her students,” he said.

“Her positive attitude reflects the true Monican spirit whereby every student matters. Connie has dedicated her life to education and we are proud and humbled that she has done so at St Monica’s College, Epping.”
