Sirius College at Broadmeadows goes into the new academic year with a high benchmark for VCE students after outstanding results in 2013 put the school at the top of the state.
Students of the school formerly known as Isik College scored the best results in Victoria in further maths, maths methods, chemistry and LOTE (Turkish).
Students Saba Gul (99.90) and Ridvan Atlihan(99.85) achieved the highest ATARs in the college’s history.
And six students topped the state with full scores of 50 in further maths, maths methods and chemistry.
In total, five students achieved 99 and above, 11 scored 95 and above, 18 scored more than 90 and 38 achieved 80 and above.
Ms Gul and Mr Atlihan also became “all-rounders” by achieving 46 or better out of 50 for all their subjects and will receive special Premier’s awards later in
the year.
In the school’s VCE success, Halil Erciyas came third with 99.75, Faruk Ayvaz was fourth with 99.15, and Zehra Yigit fifth with 99.10. Six students came first in Victoria in their subject scores, three in further maths, two in maths methods and one in chemistry with perfect scores of 50. Haluk Erciyas, Kursat Onat and Elif Gungor topped maths; Faruk Ayvaz and Ridvan Atlihan were methods stars, and Halil Erciyas finished top in chemistry and was also best in the state.
The highest score in Turkish was achieved by Taha Caksak, with a score of 49, also the highest in Victoria.
