Lantern-making

Whittlesea council will hold lantern-making workshops ahead of its annual lantern parade at Whittlesea Showgrounds from 2.30pm on Sunday, September 11. The workshops are at Laurimar Community Activity Centre (August 24, 9.30am-12.30pm); Whittlesea Community House (August 27, 10.30am-2.30pm); Flowerdale Youth Space (August 31, 3.30-6.30pm); and The Cattle Shed (September 8, 4-5.30pm, and the 11, 2-3.30pm).

 

Father’s Day story-time

Make a special gift with your dad at crafty story-time sessions at Craigieburn library, 75-95 Central Park Avenue, Craigieburn, on Tuesday, August 30, 2-2.45pm, and Wednesday, August 31, 11-11.45am. Suitable for children aged 3-5.

Browse through market stalls and enjoy free craft activities at the Thomastown indoor market at Thomastown library, 52 Main Street, on Saturday, September 3, 10am-1pm. There will also be a visit from Peppa Pig.

Irish family tree ready for climbing

Learn about the key resources you can use to compile your Irish family history during a national family history month presentation at The Age Library, 1093 Pascoe Vale Road, Broadmeadows, on Monday, August 29, 10am-noon. The presentation will be led by the Genealogy Society of Victoria’s Joy Roy.
