Premier Cricket: Greenvale Kangaroos short in fun chase

Greenvale Kangaroos felt the absence of star all-rounder Daniel Salpietro as its run chase against Melbourne Uni fell 44 runs short on Saturday.

Chasing the Uni’s 204 from the previous week, Greenvale was out for 160 at University Main Oval.

Previous prolific scorers Eric Ghasperidis (6) and James Lidgett (12) fell cheaply as four quick wickets had the Kangaroos reeling at 6-74.

Ramneet Dhindsa (25) and Dominic Reed (23) pushed the score to triple figures, but the tail couldn’t produce a miracle with Greenvale dismissed by the 54th over.

The Kangaroos return to Greenvale Recreation Reserve to host ladder leader Footscray-Edgewater in a weekend two-dayer starting on Saturday.
