Blue and white-collar entrepreneurs rubbed shoulders at a recent Hume council ceremony for business award winners in 14 categories.
Twenty-two Hume businesses were recognised at the awards presentation.
Mayor Geoff Porter said the municipality reflected both the strengths and challenges ahead for Victoria’s economy, encompassing the scheduled closure of production at Ford late in 2016 and changes in the global and Australian economies.
“We have seen the impact this has had on Hume as an economy in transition, with business closures and job losses,” Cr Porter said.
“Yet along with these challenges, there are opportunities, such as with Melbourne Airport. And, of course, our community continues to grow.”
This year’s award winners are eligible for nomination in the regional Northern Business Achievement Awards, run by NORTHLink.
