Mill Park residents lap up water

MILL Park residents are the municipality’s biggest water guzzlers, according to Yarra Valley Water statistics.

They used 504 litres a day in the last financial year, up 3.5 per cent from the previous financial year. Thomastown households used 471 litres, Epping and Lalor used 457 litres each, South Morang 455, Bundoora 431, Whittlesea 399 and Doreen-Mernda 390.

Yarra Valley Water managing director Tony Kelly said that from December 1 people could use sprinkler watering systems any day between 6 pm and 10 am, while handheld hoses with a trigger nozzle could be used at any time. But he warned that “it is still important to remain diligent over summer”.
