EGGS-CELLENT ACTIVITIES

From decorating eggs to making an Easter bunny cut-out, children up to age 5 can take part in Easter storytime activities, including reading Easter tales and a range of fun craft sessions. It’s part of Hume Libraries’ school holiday program on Monday, April 7, from 10.30-11.30am at Sunbury ibrary, 44 Macedon Street, Sunbury. Free.

FUTURE BUSINESS

Concerned about the economic forecast and what it means for business? Join guest speaker Phil Ruthven at Whittlesea’s business luncheon as he discusses the strategies and future for business and economic matters. Mr Ruthven is a social and economics commentator, and founder of IBIS World, an international corporation providing business information, forecasting and strategic services. The lunch is Thursday, April 3, from noon-2.30pm, at Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre, 35 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang. Cost: $85 (includes lunch and refreshments). Registration essential.

Residents in their 40s and 50s can join Hume & Northern Happenings, a social group that holds fortnightly functions ; the next is a tenpin bowling night this Saturday.

THE ART ZONE

Children can indulge their creative side with Art in the Park, a day of free art activities at Hawkstowe Park in South Morang. Supported by Plenty Valley Arts and Mill Park Garden Club, the event offers fun and artistic sessions, including painting, craft, pottery and printmaking. A barbecue and Devonshire tea will be available for purchase, or parents can pack a picnic. Sunday, April 6, from 10am-2.30pm, at Plenty Gorge Park, Gordons Road, South Morang.

PREPARING TO SUCCEED

Locals needing advice about finance, marketing or starting a business can attend this free small-business mentoring session. Business owners can book in for one of six confidential one-on-one sessions with mentors from the Business Enterprise Centre Australia. The mentors offer tips on starting a business, planning and growing, dealing with change, identifying goals, marketing and finance. On Monday, April 7, 9am-4.30pm, at Whittlesea council offices, 25 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang.

SAND SENSATIONS

If the kids get restless during the school holidays, Tullamarine library has an array of activities to occupy and entertain. Children aged 5-12 can make sand-art pictures with colourful sand, creating their own artwork to hang on a wall at home. Wednesday, April 9, 11am-noon, at 58 Spring Street, Tullamarine. Free.
