Premier Cricket: Greenvale Kangaroos win last game

Greenvale’s season ended on a high with an 81-run win against Casey-South Melbourne in Victorian Premier Cricket on Saturday.

The Kangaroos posted their best total of the season last weekend – 306 – led by James Damjanovski’s career-best 91.

They kept the momentum going on Saturday afternoon with Dominic Reed snaring the wickets of Daniel Watson and Lachlan Sperling in quick succession to leave the Swans dangling at 2-11.

The wickets of Josh Holden, Nathan Freitag and Casey skipper Chris Hall all followed shortly after, leaving Greenvale in control and Casey staring down a big defeat at 5-45.

Robert Elston (53) and Reuben Wakefield (42) shared an 82-run stand to push the score well into triple figures. When they were out within six runs of each other, the Swans’ tail stayed strong. Simon Black (44), Dylan Hadfield (23) and Max Wakefield (16) all got valuable runs.

Reed finished with 5-49, his third five-wicket haul for the season. Carl Sandri (2-49), Chris Marantelli (2-50) and Dan Salpietro (1-44) also picked up wickets.

The Roos ended the season at 16th place, with six wins.
