Electricity distributor Jemena and Landcare Australia will host a free Live. Grow. Explore expo. TV gardener Vasili Kanidiadis will be the star of the show and there’ll be a feast of family fun, free food and environmental and energy awareness workshops. At Living Legends, Woodlands Historic Park, Oaklands Road, Greenvale, on Sunday, March 15, from 11am-4pm.

Lights of Culture Festival

Come on down to Broadmeadows Town Park from noon on Saturday, March 21, for a day of food, music and dance as Hume council embraces the diversity of the municipality. The day will be packed with fun cultural activities for all ages. During the evening, the council will be lighting up the park with traditional lanterns featuring themes of various multicultural communities.

Hume arts awards

Nominations for the Hume arts awards opened on Monday, March 2. Creative Hume residents are invited to apply for an award and the chance to share in $20,000. Hume council will also award professional development grants of up to $500 to help local artists attend conferences, access professional development opportunities and training. Community festival

Join the City of Whittlesea for the municipality’s biggest annual celebration on March 15 from 12.30pm until 9pm. The celebration of the city and its people and places will feature music, food, market stalls and workshops. City of Whittlesea Public Gardens, Barry Road, Lalor.

A taste of Greece

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy this year’s Florina Fasolatha (bean soup) Festival on March 8, from 11am until 7pm. Visitors will be able to taste delicious Greek food including fasolatha, olives, freshly baked bread, gyros, souvlaki and kebabs, and enjoy traditional music and dance covering different regions of Greece. At Plenty Ranges Arts & Convention Centre, 35 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang.

Anzac centenary

Victoria’s Journey of Remembrance will come to life in a performance by the Huffers and Puffers band depicting stories of men and women who served in World War 1. Tuesday, March 17, 1.30-3.30pm at the PRACC, 35 Ferres Boulevard, South Morang. Bookings essential.
