Craigieburn Eagles will go into the next Big V basketball season with some familiar faces in charge.
Denis McNamara and Rod Sweeney will return to coach the men’s and women’s sides respectively.
Club president Jason Moore said the reappointment of McNamara would provide stability for the men’s program as the Eagles look to build after finishing on the bottom of the ladder this season.
Returning women’s coach Sweeney has more than 24 years’ experience in basketball.
The women’s youth side will again be coached by Laura Janes.
Moore said the club had spent two years developing its programs and was hoping it would translate to on-court success.
Anthony Boland, an assistant coach this season for the men’s youth side, has been promoted to the top job for next year.
“Anthony’s passion and commitment to the game is certainly an asset to the Eagles,” Moore said.
The club hosted its best and fairest awards presentation on Saturday night. Kane McNamara won the men’s division 1 most valuable player gong from Kewal Shiels.
Ellie McLean was the women’s MVP, ahead of Nicole McMahon.
Dominic Bruno and Thalia Prestia took home the youth MVP awards.
