Greenvale woman facing 292 charges

A 25-year-old Greenvale woman has been charged with 292 offences following a police investigation into the false nomination of drivers for penalty notices.

Police from Taskforce Echo searched a Greenvale property on June 24, seizing a range of electronic devices, cash, a samurai sword and drugs.

Police are alleging that the woman used her former position as a third party contractor to access information to then receive payments for false nominations of penalty notices.

It is believed that a number of those who received the notices are allegedly connected to organised crime groups, including outlaw motorcycle gangs and Middle Eastern crime groups.

The woman has been charged with offences including obtaining financial advantage by deception, failing to provide information or assistance under warrant and unauthorised access to restricted data.

She was bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on July 11.

On July 4, police searched a Westmeadows property and arrested a 22-year-old Westmeadows woman.

She was interviewed by police and released pending further inquiries.

During the warrant, police seized items including electronic devices, an air rifle, gel blaster firearm and nunchuks.

An 18-year-old Westmeadows man was also arrested and interviewed in relation to the weapons and released pending further inquiries.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this matter is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestoppersvic.com.au
